Important events like holidays, weddings and parties take time to get ready for, so does tanning. Plan ahead and build up your tan slowly and moderately. If you need an ‘instant’ tan then our automated spray tan is the perfect solution.

UNDERSTAND TANNING
We don’t advise under 16s use a sunbed because their skin offers less protection. People used to believe that sunburn was just an inevitable part of starting a tan – but we know how wrong that is.
TANNING is a natural process
Your body is designed to produce melanin, which darkens the skin and is your body’s natural way of building up protection against sunburn.
SUNBURN is a totally different process. The reddening of your skin shows increased blood flow, your body’s way of helping repair the damage done by overexposure to ultraviolet light. The Tanning Shop advocates a gradual, natural tan and ensures your course of UV tanning is regulated with technology, so over-exposure does not occur.
SKIN TYPE CONSULTATION
Before using a sunbed we will conduct a consultation to evaluate your skin type and determine your recommended personal UV exposure time. We will advise and recommend the use of a lotion to suit your requirement. We provide protective eyewear and a refreshing wipe.
ACHIEVING THE BEST TAN
Develop a base tan by exposing the skin frequently (initially 3 times a week) via a series of tanning sessions (typically 4 to 6 mins) which do not burn the skin. A base tan developed gradually together with the use of sun screens when outdoors helps to prevent sunburn and gives a great looking tan.
California Tan Lotions
California Tan is one of the most respected brand names in tanning and continues to produce innovative products with the latest skin care ingredients.
The three main reasons for using a lotion are:
- hydrates the skin allowing a deeper tan that lasts longer – dry skin reflects light giving you a surface tan that fades quickly
- increases the result of the tanning session by stimulating melanin production, making you darker quicker
- protects the skin from wrinkles – skin looses moisture during the tanning session, lotion hydrates the skin reducing the potential for wrinkles
